You would need tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of Zentraedi ships firing in absolute coordination, in absolute synchrony to force the shielding to collapse. However, with a faction such as the Zentraedi, whose weaponry yields are far inferior to that of the IoM's, this becomes much more of a hindrance.
Coincidentally enough, the Star Wars ISD can collapse Void Shields because the firepower of their weaponry are roughly equivalent to the yield needed to force a rupture. The reason why the ships of the 40k-verse can down them is because of the yield of their weaponry. Once again, the problem isn't that the IoM ships are much faster or much durable (which they are), but the degree of difficulty in collapsing the layers of Void Shields. The only guns that are ACTUALLY MANNED BY CREWS are the anti fighter and close in point defense guns, these are manned specially trained crew members who are assisted by targetting information by there own Slaved Servitors. Torpedoes are the same as well, fired as fast as they are reloaded, dont need to wait for the crews down by the tubes to press a button. (not as fast as energy weapons but still very quickly) They use Servitors (human beings who have been modified so that the brain is used as a CPU) that are slaved to the over all will of the Ship Captain (who sits on a command throne that connects him physically to the ship and makes him feel the ship as an extension of his own body) The captain can fire Energy weapons as often as he wants (even to the point of overloading the guns themselves and causing them to detonate) and can fire the solid ammunition weapons as fast as the heavily automated work crews can reload them. The only thing the Zentradi have for them is initial numbers, point to point FTL (it does have a recharge time) and the initial surprise attack.Īlso, for those people who are saying that the IoM uses human reaction times, you are incorrect. Also, the truly awe inspiring amount of ships, troops and war materials that could be diverted to the fight since all the orks are gone would tilt the war in the favour of the IoM Better Fighters and bombers and Energy shields and an entire galaxy of production capability. The Imperium would still win, they have faster engines, Psykers, more powerful and longer range enery weapons, truly DEVASTATING short range non-energy weapons. And no, I was merely saying that if you change the playing field you have to take into account all factors.
